Anatomy Boxing, a woman-owned gym located in Bountiful, was founded with a passion for fitness and community; creating an inclusive space for people of all skill levels while fostering discipline, confidence, and growth through boxing training, strength conditioning, and self-defense programs.
The facility offers group classes, one-on-one coaching, youth development, and women’s self-defense workshops — actively engaging with the community through outreach programs, school partnerships, and wellness events that promote health, fitness, and empowerment.
Balancing life as a single mom and full-time recruiter, founder Julia Misrasi acknowledges the challenges of running the gym but remains driven by her dream. “Creating a community-focused boxing gym was something I was truly passionate about, but taking that leap required careful planning, determination, and a lot of late nights,” she said.
Initially, Misrasi had two business partners, but upon their leave of the partnership, she realized she was capable of running Anatomy Boxing the way she’d always intended — as a truly inclusive, community-driven space. “Taking full ownership was the moment my dream became a reality,” she said. “It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve made sacrifices because I truly believe in what Anatomy Boxing represents.”
While her resilience has been key, Misrasi credits her support system of family and friends for their encouragement. “What has truly been the most inspiring and humbling is the support from the community itself,” she said. “From gym members who show up every day to local businesses that champion our mission, I’ve been surrounded by people who see the value in what we’re creating.”
Through her journey, Misrasi has learned that “no one will ever be as dedicated to your dream as you are,” stressing the importance of financial preparation and perseverance. “Entrepreneurship is rewarding, but it’s also demanding,” she said. “If you’re truly passionate, be prepared to work harder than anyone else, make sacrifices, and trust yourself to navigate the challenges.”
Utah has always felt like home to Misrasi, not just in location but in the strong sense of community she’s felt here. “People genuinely want to see small businesses succeed,” she said. “I’ve felt firsthand how much community support can uplift and sustain a business.”
