With its science-backed nutritional drink mixes, Sips Club is making strides in the health market. Started by Katy Monson and Kathleen Nimmo to address their kids’ nutritional needs, the business has grown to offer several unique products with varying benefits and fun, fruity flavors.
It all began with protein and veggie drinks, mixed up in the kitchen to combat their children’s sugar crashes, constipation, and skipped meals. Monson, a former clinical lab scientist, used her skills and knowledge to address issues their families were facing.
“I’d spent years tinkering with raw ingredients from my supplement cupboard, and the solutions were straightforward,” Monson said. “Our kids had real nutritional challenges, and we knew we could do better than the options on the market.”
Their goal was simple yet ambitious: create drink mixes that were simultaneously effective and enjoyable while avoiding artificial dyes and additives. One year later, the self-funded startup is thriving, proving the duo’s formula for success is as strong as their formula for nutrition. Monson credits her and Nimmo’s husbands for their support, namely helping to set up financial models and build their Shopify website.
Sips Club currently offers three products with varying benefits: Protein Sips help balance blood sugar, Veggie Sips combat chronic and painful constipation, and most recently, Support Sips create healthy energy boosts while bolstering the immune system with antioxidants.
Reflecting on her journey, Monson believes persistence and an abundance mindset are key. “Never give up, especially when it comes to conflict or misunderstanding,” she advised. “Fear and scarcity only hold you back, while confidence and generosity open doors. Desperation rarely leads to success, but by showing up with trust and resilience, the universe starts working in your favor.”
With its breathtaking scenery and strong sense of community, Monson and Nimmo see Utah as the perfect home for their growing brand. Their entrepreneurial journey proves that, with determination and innovation, anything is possible — even turning kitchen experiments into a thriving business.
“This state has a deep history of pioneering and ingenuity, values that have shaped both the landscape and the people who live here,” Monson said. “From the early settlers who carved out a thriving community in the desert to the modern innovators building world-class businesses, Utah has always been a place where determination meets possibility.”
